Overall an under-par match by Ahly, especially in the first half. Ahly controlled most of the gameplay but couldn't manage to break the Algerian team's defenses. JSK scored and resorted to counter attacks with a very solid defense. Tension was in the air, and water bottles were thrown onto the pitch. One of the shamareekh was thrown directly in front of Ahly's goalkeeper as he was blocking a shot. The ref did nothing to stop this flood of objects.

Ahly scored an equalizer ten minutes before the end, only for it to be counted as an offside. And an offside it was. After that Ahly players were entangled with stadium personnel apparently and some fights broke out. Never a dull moment. We only have to wait for tomorrow to read more 'exciting' things in the paper..it wasn't a very friendly encounter, to say the least.

JSK now leads the group with 9 points, followed by Ahly with 4.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to watch the match. Not easy to distinguish whether it was off-side or not. Looks as if we're in for an entertaining encounter in Cairo; very tempting to go really.

The Egyptian bus was also attacked after the match and its wind shield destroyed.

The problem for me isn't whether it was offside or not...the problem is all this hatred and aggression. The problem is the cycle that will continue because of 'an eye for an eye' and the hatred that is constantly renewed effectively.

Sorry, I tried to stay focused on the footballing aspect. It's sad to see the pile of mutual despicable and hostile abuse in youtube comments about the match. I'm sure it will not creep in here though. Let Al Ahly respond with their feet in Cairo.
